Mary Anne Kukoly visited with her cousin, Betty and Ken Morrison in Huntsville, recently. On her way home, she visited with Dianne and Wayne Orr of Holstein. Mary Anne also visited with Shirley Gilders in Clinton, Thursday.
 
The Ripley and District Horticultural Society held its Christmas meeting at the Ripley-Huron Community Centre, Wednesday, with a delicious potluck lunch, Bows and Boughs auction, and some music to get us in the mood too!  President Sandra MacDonald kept the meeting running smoothly and welcomed all members and their guests. Congratulations to Gail Vander Hoek on receiving the RBC Royal Bank award for most points at the flower show; Mary Rose Walden, recipient of the President's award; and Christine Roberts for the press reporter award from Liz Dadson of the Kincardine Record on-line news source. Tryntje Eisen was also recognized for the reports she submits for the junior horticulturist program. 
 
The Purple Grove Community Centre annual meeting was held Wednesday evening. Chairman Paul Murray kept things on track. Among the items discussed, were the new well, Christmas annual gathering, the winter card parties, the spring cleaning bee, and a community picnic next summer. A big thank you to Heather Finnie for the excellent financial report and notes from last year.
 
Friday evening, the Ripley and area 4-H Awards Night was held at the Ripley-Huron Community School. Congratulations to all the members and leaders for another great year! 
 
The Santa Claus Parades have started already! The Goderich parade was Saturday evening, and coming up this weekend are Lucknow, Friday night, and Ripley, Sunday night. Anyone interested in putting in a float for the Ripley Parade of Lights, contact Karen Stanley, and let's hope for nice weather.
 
Danica Farrell visited with her grandparents and cousins for a few days last week. Jim and Fran Farrell, Glen and Sarah Farrell and Carmen Knapp attended the wedding of their nephew and cousin, Nathan West, and Jennifer Temple in Stratford, Saturday evening. 
 
Sympathy to the families of Ethel France and Keith Kelly of Point Clark.
 
Happy belated birthday to Deanna Scott and Nancy Greenwood!

Get well wishes to those folks who are not feeling so well at this time.

This wintry weather makes the roadways slippery. Be careful driving, folks!
