Kincardine Legion Corner

Sunday afternoon, the Kincardine Legion presented a cheque for $6,000 to the Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation, to put toward the $12,000 cost of a new height adjustable bathtub. This new tub will offer in-patients an invigorating spa experience with a private whirlpool bath. The previous tub was more than 15 years old, leaked around the base and the service warranty was no longer valid.

The funding comes from the Royal Canadian Legion - Provincial Branch, which has donated a total of $36,000 since 2009 for several pieces of equipment for the Kincardine hospital, including the height adjustable bathtub, ultrasound hand unit, electocautery system, ECG machine, and the mammogram fund.

The Kincardine Legion, Branch 183, has donated more than $69,000 to the foundation since 1995 for various medical equipment, the yearly Radiothon, and the building campaigns.

Trivia Night
at the Legion Clubhouse is this coming Friday night, March 27, starting at 7 p.m. sharp. Bring a team or come on your own and join an existing team. Lots of fun and you learn at the same time.

Come out to our weekly activities which include a CASH BINGO every Thursday night starting at 7 p.m. in the hall. Doors open at 6 p.m. Everyone welcome. The more who attend, the more that can be won. Remember that proceeds from the Bingo stay within our community, going to charities we support.

Also every week on Saturdays we have our Meat Draws (eight meat draws) and 50/50 draw. Everyone welcome. First draw at 3 p.m., with 50/50 draw at 5 p.m.

Our Branch will be hosting the District C Spring Convention on the weekend of April 11-12. There will be representatives from the 50 Legion Branches within the district. Saturday, there will be parade commencing at 11:30 a.m. from Victoria Park to the Cenotaph at the Legion for a remembrance service.

The next Kitchen Party is Friday, April 17, in the Clubhouse, starting at 7:30 p.m. All musicians are welcome, as well as anybody who likes to listen.

The next General Membership Meeting will be April 19, at 2 p.m. in the clubhouse. Members are asked to make an effort to attend these meetings, so that the executive has your input and approval for recommendations coming forward at these meetings. Make it an afternoon, stay for the Family Dinner which starts at 4:30 p.m. and continues to 6 p.m. Good food and the price is right.

We are always actively recruiting new membership in the Legion. If you are not a member, interested in becoming a member, please contact Mike at 519-396-7754. You have to be at least 18 years old, a Canadian or Commonwealth subject or citizen of allied country, and support the purposes and objectives of the Royal Canadian Legion. Applications are available on-line at www.legion.ca or at the Legion Bar.

Membership in the Legion is rewarding and fun. There are all kinds of activities, and we fund-raise to support our veterans and their families, youth, seniors, good health, and other worthwhile causes in the community.
