Kincardine okays donor sign at Bruce Avenue senior field
Kincardine council has approved a donor sign to be installed at the Bruce Avenue senior field, recognizing the businesses and organizations that contributed to the soccer field lights project there.
The project was completed through the co-operative efforts of the municipality and EMC Power Canada Ltd. which drummed up interest and donations from a variety of companies and groups, including Kincardine Minor Soccer, Huron United FC, Kincardine Adult Soccer, AREVA, Rankin Construction, RCM Technologies, Kinectrics, Acuren Nuclear, Ideal Supply, Promation Nuclear, Sargent and Lundy, Tetra Tech, and Westario Power.
The poles and lights were installed in the fall of 2017 and will be ready to be used in time for the 2018 soccer season.
EMC took the lead and sought out several local businesses and organizations that donated financial resources and in-kind work toward the project, said recreation director Karen Kieffer, in her report which came before council in committee-of-the-whole, Wednesday night (Jan. 24).
Now that the project is nearing completion, the municipality would like to recognize and thank the donors for their generous contributions, said Kieffer. An unveiling and grand opening are planned for the spring.
Cost of the sign, permit and installation are covered by the donations received.
