Barb Forrest remembered as skilled bookkeeper, and long-time Kincardine Legion executive member
Barbara “Barb” Jean Forrest (née Macklem) of Kincardine, died with family by her side, at the South Bruce Grey Health Centre, Kincardine, Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018, in her 70
th year.
Beloved wife of Robert “Bob” Forrest for 28 years.
Cherished mother of Sarah MacKenzie, and Rachel MacKenzie (Jon Waller); and step-mother of Jessica King.
Remembered by sisters-in-law, Maureen (Howard), Dale (Dennis), and Darlene (Brad), and their families; cousins, Howard Griffith and family, and Jimmy and Janis Macklem; and lifelong partner-in-crime, Marny Dadson.
Predeceased by her parents, John “Jack” and Margaret (née McIntyre) Macklem; and sister, Sandra Macklem.
Barbara was an avid reader, and a lover of travelling, wine and good food, and all things British. She was a skilled and well-respected bookkeeper who worked with many local businesses.
She also generously devoted much of her time and energy to the Kincardine Royal Canadian Legion branch, where she held several executive positions.
Visitation will be held at the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home, Kincardine, Sunday, Feb. 11, 2018, from 1-4 p.m., with a Legion service at 12:45 p.m.
The funeral service to celebrate Barb’s life, will take place at the Kincardine United Church, Monday, Feb. 12, 2018, at 11 a.m., with Pastor Kenneth Craig officiating.
A reception will follow the service, at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 183, Kincardine.
Final resting place, Kincardine Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Royal Canadian Legion Veterans White Cross Fund, would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
