Ten students compete at Kincardine Legion public speaking contest

Ten students bravely took the stage at the Kincardine Legion at the annual public speaking competition, held Saturday morning in the Legion Hall.

The following were the winners in the primary, junior and intermediate divisions:

PRIMARY
 

  • 1st - Cooper Waite of St. Anthony's School, "Justin Bieber"
  • 2nd - Oscar Weerasinghe of St. Anthony's, "The Olympics" (speech given in French)


JUNIOR
 

  • 1st - Nolan Janes of Huron Heights Public School, "Being Left-Handed"
  • 2nd - Nicolas Marcotte of St. Anthony's, "Retirement"
  • 3rd - Esha Gill of Huron Heights, "The Importance of Reading"
  • 4th - Tristan Kim of St. Anthony's, "Eat Less Meat!"


INTERMEDIATE
 

  • 1st - Harlene Gill of Huron Heights, "Women Empowerment"
  • 2nd - Thales Hunter of St. Anthony's, "The Internet"
  • 3rd - Olivia Ewen of Huron Heights, "Feminism"
  • 4th - Sophie Nancekivell of St. Anthony's, "Water Scarcity"

 

The top three speakers from each division, advance to the Legion Zone public speaking contest, Saturday, March 3, at the Kincardine Legion.
