Tiverton news
With the spring-like weather we have been having, it’s only natural that the wild animals are coming out sooner and taking advantage of the warm air. I live in Inverhuron and this week, just outside my bedroom window a lone coyote came walking up to my house obviously looking for some small prey. He didn’t seem to be nervous and just sniffed around at my dog’s scat. After taking a few pictures, I knocked on the window and he turned around and walked away. He looked healthy and I think he was looking for rabbits.

Since then, we have been going outside with our dog and we carry a weapon of some sort just in case it wants to get too close. We live in the bush and we hear them at night howling but this is the first time in 30-plus years that one has ventured so close. So just to warn everyone, they are out there and looking for a quick meal. Keep your cats inside and stay with your dogs when they are outside.

There was some expert tree-cutting going on in Tiverton this week (right). While walking near the Whitney Crawford Community Centre, I could see a man at the top of a very tall tree, swinging from branch-to-branch, cutting small sections as he went along. He knew how and where to let them fall as he was only a few feet from a house.

At the bottom, was his partner from Grey Bruce Tree Workers, picking up the small branches and chipping them and stacking the logs to take away. These guys really know what they are doing.
