Bruce Power donates ambulance to St. John Ambulance Grey Bruce Huron branch
Bruce Power has donated a surplus emergency vehicle to the Grey Bruce Huron branch of St. John Ambulance.

The company has donated an ambulance from its fleet to the non-profit organization, which provides first aid coverage at numerous community events throughout the year, while also providing life-saving training to adults and youth across the region.

“When Bruce Power acquired a new ambulance as part of our regular vehicle lifecycle-management program, we knew our old one could be of great use to an organization such as St. John Ambulance,” said Brian Cumming, Bruce Power’s fire chief.

“Bruce Power’s emergency services department has excellent relationships with local municipalities through our mutual aid agreements, so assisting St. John Ambulance was a natural step for our organization.”

Kathy Murphy Ermel, branch manager of the Grey Bruce Huron branch of St. John Ambulance, said the ambulance will be put to good use throughout the region.

“Our volunteers and staff can be found at numerous community events throughout Bruce, Grey and Huron counties, performing mobile first aid to those in need,” Ermel said. “Bruce Power’s generous donation of an ambulance will allow us a greater presence in the community during the busy summer months, while providing another layer of safety for the people who attend so many local events.”
