Two arrested in death of missing Southampton man
(CHATSWORTH TWP, ON) - The Saugeen Shores Police Service and the OPP West Region Crime Unit, under the direction of acting detective inspector Paula Milne of the OPP Criminal Investigations Branch, are continuing to investigate a death in Chatsworth Township.
During the search of a property near the Village of Dornoch, officers located a dead body. Following a post mortem examination, the deceased has been identified as 20-year-old Nolan PANCHYSHYN of Southampton, who had been missing since Dec. 20, 2017.
As a result of the police investigation, two men are facing criminal charges.
Forty-six-year-old Dwayne HAMMOND of Chatsworth Township has been charged with:
- Second degree murder, contrary to section 229 of the Criminal Code (CC)
- Indignity to a dead body, contrary to section 182(2) of the CC
- Possession of a weapon while prohibited, contrary to section 117.01(1) CC
Twenty-two-year-old David BEATTIE of Chatsworth Township has been charged with:
- Indignity to a dead body, contrary to section 182(2) of the Criminal Code (CC)
- Fail to comply with probation, contrary to section 733.1(1) of the CC
The accused are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound April 6, to answer to the charges. This case is subject to a court ordered publication ban.
