South Bruce Grey Health Centre marks 20th anniversary

April 1, 2018

April 1 marks the 20th anniversary of the South Bruce Grey Health Centre as a multi‐site hospital organization.

On that date in 1998, the Kincardine and District General Hospital joined with the County of Bruce General Hospital (Walkerton), Chesley and District Memorial Hospital, and Durham Memorial Hospital, to become the South Bruce Grey Health Centre.

The four hospital sites continue to offer 24‐7 emergency services, acute care, and a full complement of laboratory and diagnostic imaging services in each community.

“Since day one, this organization has worked hard to create a strong and viable health system for our communities,” says Paul Rosebush, health centre president and chief executive officer. “Our success as an organization is due to our dedicated and exceptional staff, many of whom have been with us since we became one organization.”

To mark the occasion, the health centre is launching a new logo, which represents the thriving rural communities of Grey and Bruce counties, and the Lake Huron shoreline, encompassed in a circle of care.

“It seems fitting that to mark this significant occasion in 2018, we take this opportunity to renew our identity as the South Bruce Grey Health Centre,” says Rosebush. “Our goal is to have a brand that clearly represents our organization, and one that has a more modern look, as our previous logo was developed at the time of amalgamation in 1998.

“Change is never easy, and the process of amalgamation did not come without significant challenges. However, the reality is that we are stronger together. We have accomplished so much for health care in our small, rural communities that would not have been possible otherwise.

"With the unwavering support of our local hospital foundations and hospital auxiliaries, and our combined resources, we are very proud to be able to offer leading-edge health care and specialized services to our patients, while still having the unique and friendly atmosphere of a small hospital.”

An anniversary celebration will be held at each of the health centre's four sites.

In Kincardine, that event will take place Tuesday, April 24, from 2-3:30 p.m., in the hospital cafeteria.
