Enthusiastic, sold-out crowd at “Greenock Bridge” concert

It was a sold-out, enthusiastic crowd Friday night at the Kincardine Arts Centre, for the first “Greenock Bridge” concert of fiddle music and step-dancing, in support of World Fiddle Day.

Deb Morris was MC for the evening and explained the Greenock Bridge joins both sides of the swamp, and brings local fiddle players together. She said we all have swamp stories and we should share them with others that night.

The Ballagh family offered many original numbers, and Paige and Devon gave great step-dancing performances. They brought along Lucy Muir who is joining them in a number of shows, with her Highland dancing.

Next up, was Randy Morrison, whom Morris said she has known since she was a teenager and would see him playing his fiddle at every corn roast and get-together in Bruce County. 

Morrison, himself, shared a few Bruce County stories and entertained with old-time fiddle tunes, much to the audience’s delight. Jerry McNulty and Gord Ogilvie accompanied Morrison. 

The grand finale brought all the musicians and dancers on stage together, and the audience responded with a standing ovation.
