Purple Grove news
What a grand day to celebrate Mother’s Day. We hope that everyone’s day was extra special.  All the best to the mothers, grandmothers, great-grandmothers, and all ladies who are a part of our children’s lives.

How nice to see so many folks at the Jack and Jill shower for Caitlin Murray and Kenny Harris, held Saturday at the Purple Grove Community Centre on Saturday. Their wedding party had the centre looking just lovely.

It is sad that we have lost another of our Purple Grove oldsters. Our sympathy to the family of the late Audrey Currie.

Karen and Bill Martin of Kitchener visited with Deanna Scott.

The Rhodys enjoyed watching the dance recital of their grandsons, Xavier and Zarian Zuk, in Hanover last week. It is always such fun to watch the little ones perform.

Cheryl Bridge and her sisters attended their Uncle Jack Thom’s funeral last week in Goderich. Jack will be remembered for his Goderich business. They owned Sifto/Windsor Salt and had many customers country wide.

Saturday, Mary Beth Kerr and Cheryl Bridge dined at the old train station in Goderich and then enjoyed the “Calendar Girls” play at The Livery.

Happy Birthday to Gavin Bridge who turned three on Mother’s Day.

Mary Orr has now taken up residence at Pinecrest Nursing Home in Lucknow.

Recent visitors with Cheryl and Carman Bridge were Wendy and Jim Hooisma of Hanover.

Teresa and David Becker and boys hosted the Mother’s Day Gathering for the Farrell family, Sunday.

Fran and Jim Farrell visited with Chris, Tyson and Cooper VandeSype in Manitoba recently. They also visited with Lillian and Derk Logtenberg last Tuesday afternoon in Goderich.

Friday, the Purple Grove Women’s Institute enjoyed the ‘May Night Out.’ The ladies began the evening with a tasty meal at Liddle’s. It was so nice to be served by two Purple Grove young ladies. President Deanna Scott welcomed all the members and a brief meeting followed the meal. The group then travelled to the Kingsbridge Centre to enjoy the musical talents of Finola McGuinty and the band Nightengael. It is a blessing when folks have such talent and share it with us. Thanks so much to Wilma Sutton and Fran Farrell for organizing the evening.

Everyone is looking forward to the Ripley Agricultural Society Spaghetti Dinner, May 27. Tickets will be available at the door if you can’t get them beforehand.
