Despite the intense heat Wednesday night, the Kincardine Community Singers carried on through the dress rehearsal of their spring concert, “Downtown,” at Knox Presbyterian Church, Kincardine.
The show takes you “downtown” and home again, with a magnificent array of music, sung beautifully by the choir.
Journey from the bright lights and exciting night life of the city, with an eclectic mix of music from Irving Berlin, Stephen Sondheim, Petula Clark, and the Jersey Boys. And travel home again, in time for the Kincardine Reunion in August, with songs by John Denver, John Rutter, and Michael Bublé’s, “Home.”
The 86-member choir is under the direction of Patt Lowry, with accompanist Brenda Manderson. The concert also features local musicians Steve Deer on guitar, Brian Tovey on harmonica, Mike Smith on drums, and Karen Weber on bass, as well as page-turner Kathryn Low who shares announcing duties with her father, John.
The show runs Saturday, June 9, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, June 10, at 3 p.m., at Knox Presbyterian Church, Kincardine.
Tickets are $15 each for adults ($18 each at the door) and $5 for children (age 12 and under); available from any choir member, at Harbour Rose Boutique in downtown Kincardine, or on-line at www.KincardineCommunitySingers.ca.
