Huron Heights in Kincardine joins Student Vote Ontario in electing NDP government

Huron Heights Public School, Kincardine, had the same result as the Student Vote across Ontario, in electing a New Democratic Party (NDP) government, during the student vote held Wednesday.

At Huron Heights, 35 per cent of the students voted for the NDP (Huron-Bruce candidate Jan Johnstone), while 30 per cent voted for the Green Party (Huron-Bruce candidate Nicholas Wendler), making the Green Party the official opposition.

The Progressive Conservatives (Huron-Bruce candidate Lisa Thompson, who won the riding in the actual provincial election) came in third, and the Liberals (Huron-Bruce candidate Don Matheson) was fourth.

Across Ontario, 2,166 schools reported their election results, representing all 124 electoral districts in the province.

In the Student Vote results, the Ontario NDP won a majority government with 66 seats. The PC party was named the official opposition with 45 seats. The Liberals won 11 seats, and the Green Party won two seats.
