Recent dog attacks in Lorne Beach in hands of police, Kincardine council told

The Municipality of Kincardine has done as much as its bylaws will allow, concerning recent dog attacks in the Lorne Beach area. The situation is now in the hands of the police and the courts.

That's the word from councillor Linda McKee and chief administrative officer Murray Clarke who spoke to the issue at the council meeting last night (April 15).

A woman was walking her dog along the beach Thursday when they were attacked by three Rottweiler dogs - one was running at-large, and the other two had broken free. The woman reported her dog was ripped from her arms and suffered extensive injuries.

McKee said Kincardine's bylaw enforcement officer has done as much as she can do regarding this attack. Charges have been laid so the matter is now before the courts, but there is talk of impounding the animals, she said.

Clarke said there is an impoundment order but the police are seeking to have the animals destroyed, following this most recent serious attack.

"We have responded to the best of our abilities," he said. "We are hopeful that justice will be done."
