Thanks to our local health care professionals for the excellent care
To the Editor:
Back in November, Wayne was cleaning out eaves troughs for a client, when he had an accident, falling some six to eight feet off a ladder.
Thank you very much to the lady who called the ambulance for him, and notified his wife, Joan, as well.
Wayne had excellent care at our local hospital, from the ambulance attendants, to the ER staff, to all the doctors on call. He required a trip to Walkerton for a CT Scan, then back to Kincardine. He was admitted with a cracked hip joint, a cracked pelvis, a badly broken right wrist and a broken nose. His glasses survived, though.
He was taken to Owen Sound to have his right wrist operated on (with pins, plate and a cast), kept overnight and then back to our hospital.
Wayne spent 15 days in hospital here, and then home. With the physiotherapy and home care he received for the next two months, he is now back to doing his regular lawn cutting, odd jobs, etc. A little slower but, thankfully, still able to do it!
Joan then had a right hip replacement done in London University Hospital, March 4. She was in hospital for two nights and then home.
It has been a tough year for us both, and we should have written this long ago.
We want the whole medical profession to know what excellent care Wayne received in our local hospital and since coming home, and the support we have received from the various care providers that we were fortunate to have tend to us!
We should all appreciate our hospital and the staff who tend to our care!
Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts,
Wayne and Joan Hartwick
Kincardine
