Thanks to Kincardine council for support of Secord monument, says reader
To the Editor:
RE: “ Dr. Solomon Secord monument to remain on Kincardine's main street”
Liz,
I read your article on Dr. Solomon Secord and want to thank you for the coverage.
Also, I want to thank the members of Kincardine council for their support of the monument.
I am a direct descendant of a Union soldier and feel that Secord's role as a doctor, albeit with the Southern Army, is not a blemish on his make-up.
He treated wounded on both sides and later served his community as its doctor.
Jeroen Thompson's comments and his request for the removal of the marker, are simply misguided.
