Purple Grove news

The April meeting of the Purple Grove Women's Institute was held at the home of Wilma Sutton. The gathering began with the recipients of the Ontario Volunteer Awards from 2014 and 2015 sharing memories. It also included the presentation of the certificates to Maureen Collins, Joyce Farrell and Marilyn Reid. They had not been able to attend the formal presentation in Stratford. A fun time.

The roll call was fees for the new year. We are pleased to welcome Christine Roberts into the fold.
Mary Anne Kukoly gave the Scripture based on the Biblical 911. Cheryl Bridge gave an interesting report on the District Directors meeting. We made donations to the Ripley Reunion committee and to the Roots of Bruce - a wonderful program for educating children about agriculture.

A community shower is planned for Saturday afternoon, May 9, for Sarah Wray (fiance of Glen Farrell) at the Purple Grove Community Centre.

The Annual Meeting was conducted which included the minutes of last year's meeting and the treasurer's report. The bylaws were read and amended, and the new executive was installed: past-president Marilyn Reid, president Janet Rhody, first vice-president Deanna Scott, second vice-president Donna Swan, and secretary-treasurer Fran Farrell. Fran presented our outgoing president with gifts.

Convener Joyce Farrell entertained us with some readings. Amid much laughter, we played the telephone game. Diane Cllifford and Wilma Sutton provided us with great pies to enjoy. Thanks also to Wilma for being such a gracious hostess.
