Government needs to find ways to keep costs under control, says reader

RE: “Readers praise student for letter to education minister”
In response to the student’s letter to the education minister and to responses to her letter, I feel compelled to add my “two cents.”
Young people need to understand the reality, that when they are working full-time, they will be paying up to half of their salary to the government in taxes!
So, if we don’t want to increase our taxes to more than half our earnings, we need to encourage our governments to make the hard decisions to find ways to keep costs reasonable.
The government needs to pay, not just for education, but for highways and bridges, health care, long-term care for an increasing number of seniors, pensions and benefits for all the government workers, the environment, and the list goes on and on.
The government has to find ways to keep costs under control for now and for the future.
