Readers wade in with concerns about poor beaches in Kincardine

RE: “Reader ashamed of unkempt beaches in Kincardine”
I totally agree with Judi Brown.
Our taxes taxes pay for the people who do this work.
Stop wasting it on stupid stuff like the blue chairs downtown. That money could have been used to clean up the beach.

Does anyone care about the Blue Flag designation?
I am led to believe that we have all of this overgrown grass, etc., that takes up most of our “beach” so we can be a natural Blue Flag beach.
I would prefer a beach I can use without being squished into a few square feet that is open with nice sand.

While I agree with the sentiment, I find it unfortunate that so much time/effort and resources are put into "Tourist Season."
Even the garbage cans disappear and the washrooms close following the end of "the" season.
I feel our town should be accessible, maintained and beautiful year-round.

Agreed, it’s a mess!
I would be furious if I travelled here for the promised beautiful beaches Kincardine advertises.
Port Elgin, Southampton and Goderich have beautiful beaches to be proud of.
Our biggest tourist draw and it's being ignored and taken over by grass and debris.

So true!. Also take a look at the far end of the boardwalk - it is disgusting!
The people who look after the plots down there do an amazing job. It's beautiful until you get past the first gazebo; then, it's embarrassing.

We the VOLUNTEERS (Kincardine and District Horticultural Society) who care for the flagpole garden, wish to thank the town for providing the mulch to us for use in the garden.
We volunteer our time every week and we spread this mulch, and we would welcome the help any Wednesday morning to do so.
