Thanks to all who assisted with photos of Kincardine Pavilion

Thanks to all who assisted with photos of Kincardine Pavilion
To the Editor:

On behalf of Heritage Kincardine, thank you to all who came forward with pictures of the Kincardine Beach Pavilion. The photos that were submitted have been very helpful in the research we are doing for signage to celebrate the pavilion and provide residents and visitors, alike, with information on the history of this amazing building.

Among the pictures we received, Keith Davidson showed us a postcard (above) with an early image of the pavilion taken from the lakeside.

And Bonnie Cooper Colwell sent us a picture of her uncle, Francis Davidson Cooper (right), a local farmer, in front of the east side of the building, showing that the parking lot used to be sand! Sadly, he was killed in action during the Second World War, in Italy, Sept. 12, 1944.

Heritage is not just about buildings, although we value our architectural legacy. It is also about remembering the stories of those who have gone before us and the contributions they have made to our shared culture.

Thank you again for sharing your photos, and we look forward to unveiling a new sign about the pavilion.
