Kincardine Lions Walk for Dog Guide raises almost $6,500
The Kincardine Lions Walk for Dog Guides drew about 35 people and 10 dogs, and raised $6,475.
Held Sunday, May 26, in the Lions Park beside the Davidson Centre, the money goes to the Lions Foundation of Canada which trains dog guides in six categories: Canine Vision, Hearing Ear, Service (for people in wheelchairs), Seizure Response, Autism Assistance and Diabetic Alert. The cost to train one dog guide is $25,000.
Besides the walk through the trails, the event featured a barbecue, and Larry the Lion, the Kincardine club's mascot.
Meanwhile, in Tiverton, the dog guide walk raised $2,200, with Gerda Roppel raising the most at $1,600. There was also a walk held in Point Clark, hosted by the Huron Shores Lions Club.
