RE: "Kincardine teen writes inspiring book about mission trip to Haiti"
The following is a letter to Jenna Franklin of Kincardine, author of “The Undeniable Joy”
Hi Jenna:
I so enjoyed reading about your book. Your grandma, Mary Lou, sent me the E-mail about it. My husband, Dean, is a cousin of your Dad's and Grandpa Stan.
We also went to Haiti – my son three times, my husband twice, and I have been there once. It was our 15-year-old granddaughter who started it all! She had been asked if she wanted to go, by a pastor when she was counselling at Graphite Bible Camp, near Bancroft.
In Haiti, we went to a compound that a couple from Peterborough started. They feed around 300 children a day. They have a school, a clinic and a church. It was an amazing experience.
Our 14- and 15-year-old grandsons went the year I went too, and Ben, who was 14, told us, as he walked away from the feeding program one day, “They have so little—but they are so happy.”
Of course, one of the main reasons they were happy while they were there, was because they were being fed—and it probably was their only meal of the day. But also, they received love, when they came into the compound.
It is very sad to see all of the riots and violence over there right now. They need lots of prayer.
Anyway, Jenna, I think it is wonderful that you went to Haiti, and now, that you have written this book.
I certainly want to get a copy and may even get one for my grandchildren.
God bless you for caring about the dear people over there. The children, especially, touched my heart.
Keep on caring!
