Shoreline protection will not obscure view at Macpherson Park, says Kincardine CAO
Kincardine chief administrative officer Murray Clarke says the proposed shoreline protection project, north of Kincardine Harbour, will not obscure the view of the lake and the sunsets, from the parking lot between Macpherson Park and Dunsmoor Park.
Countering information from letters to the editor in the local media, Clarke told Kincardine council Wednesday night (July 6), that this proposal to protect the shoreline is not the same as was done north of the Kincardine Pavilion, along Saugeen Street.
"That was a different shoreline and a different solution," he said. "What people have in their minds is what happened there, but that's not the case."
Clarke said substantial armour stone will be installed along the bank in exactly the same location as it is now.
"There will be no mound of dirt," he said. "There will no visual obstacles. The horizon will be the same as it is now. This is a tasteful solution to the problem of shoreline erosion."
Clarke said that over time, the boardwalk will be restored and the shoreline will stabilize.
