Paper ballots are only secure way for confidential vote, says reader
RE: “Voter saddened and disgusted with electronic voting system”
To the Editor:
I agree with reader Sandra Benbow that the new voting system can trace votes back to an individual, and I’ve been uncomfortable with it ever since it was announced, to the point where I am not sure I will even bother to vote – a radical departure for me.
I don’t even share with my husband or family how I vote, let alone any telephone pollsters, people knocking on my door, and much less on any social media or in conversations. It is MY business, period.
I am not a Luddite, but of COURSE it can be tracked. Paper ballots are the only secure way to have a confidential vote. I don’t care how much it costs, or how much work it is. To the Municipality of Kincardine: please run this election properly and responsibly.
Boy, we thought the Russians were bad.
